THIS month the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) is celebrating its 85th birthday. The NPO was first started as the National Cancer Association in 1931.

The association played a leading role in cancer research and cancer policy development, as well as providing care, support and education to South Africans who have been affected by the disease.

As part of the celebrations in the various branches and offices, each office will celebrate with the people of their community.

Nicolene Grobbler of South Coast Cansa wished Cansa a happy 85th birthday.

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank the organisation, donors, sponsors and patients for the support over the past years.”

Grobbler said without the sponsors and donors the work they do at Cansa would not be possible. She invites colleagues and friends to be part of a celebration to be held on 27 August at Shelly Centre from 10am.

“We invite our friends and community to join us for some cupcakes, band and an aerobics and obstacle course session that will be held in front of Pick n Pay Shelly Centre as part of our ongoing campaign encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle.”

Grobbler thanked Jenny Vogt from Party Costumes for the props used in the photoshoot.
