Care group extends home-care service

2016-10-13 06:00

PRO Deo Care Group has extended its services to the community.

Eloise van Niekerk of Pro Deo said they now offer a 24-hour home care service for elderly, frail, cancer and disabled patients.

“This service only includes assistance with basic daily living activities such as grooming, which includes washing, shaving, cleaning of mouths, cleaning of incontinent patients, mobilisation of out-of-bed assistance, in and out of wheelchairs, walking, feeding and staying with patients while giving family members ‘time off’,” said Van Niekerk.

A professional nurse is also available to visit patients to evaluate and establish their specific needs.

“With regards to the evaluation by the professional nurse, patients will have to make an appointment for evaluation before any placements of care workers are done, therefore before the patient is accepted the professional will visit the patient and then allocate a care worker to them.”

The 24-hour home care service is not a frail-care service where patients are taken to a centre, services are offered at the patient’s residence.
