THE South African Police Service in the region held a casual day at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre last Friday.

The officers in blue swapped their working boots for trainers for a day of fun and training at the centre.

Port Shepstone Saps spokesperson Captain Petros Mpinge said the event was held in support of National Casual Day in support of people living with disabilities.

Police members had to purchase a ticket to enter and the proceeds were for the disability fund. Members were encouraged to dress in navy blue and the theme of the day was “Be an everyday hero”. “Members from various stations within the cluster braved the cold and participated in different sporting codes such as tug of war and volleyball,” said Mpinge.

Zumba and self-defence demonstrations were also held.
