Celebrations for ANC this year

2018-01-18 06:01

JOY and jubilation is mantra in the ANC nationally as they kick off the new year with a new president as well as the celebrations of the party’s 106th year.

This revelry is especially evident in the ANC Lower South Coast, who, against all odds, stood in solitude in KZN in their support of succeeding ANC president Cryil Ramaphosa in the running ahead of the ANC conference in December 2017.

Spokesperson Selvan Chetty said moving forward the region will be making plans to meet and overcome the long-term infrastructure and development challenges in the region.

“We have made great strides within the region, however, we are aware that much more needs to be done.

“Being a ‘game changer for development’ means we will be seriously looking at how we can incentivise and strengthen investor confidence, build our capacity and further ensure that all our municipalities are able to meet the growing demands of our people within the socioeconomic context.”

He said the candidates that contested the ANC presidency are highly respected and capable members of the movement and the region was pleased with the results.

“ANC President Ramaphosa is a very capable and focused individual who inspires confidence in people not only in the ANC, but across the broader SA society as well.

“Ramaphosa is highly respected and is known for his hard work and hands-on approach to solving problems.

“He is an excellent mediator and negotiator with decades of experience having helped steer SA away from a path of confrontation and civil war during the Codesa negotiations to one of peace, growth and development,” said Chetty.

He said the region would be participating in the party’s 106th celebrations countrywide.

“We salute our founding leaders and all those brave and courageous men and women who, throughout the years, contributed selflessly to ensure our freedom and a path to peace, democracy and a united non-racial society.”
