A CLOTHING design shop= number 5 in Gangat Centre in the Port Shepstone CBD, burnt down last Wednesday.

A witness said the fire broke out at about 6am and by the time fire and rescue services responded everything in the shop had been destroyed.

A witness says that it appeared as though the shop had been broken into before the fire began and they suspect the burglars allegedly started the fire.

One of the office occupants Nelly Machi said the reason they believe the office had been broken into is that money had been taken and some of the material they had been using the day before had been moved.

“No other office or shop in the building was affected by the fire, only room 5,” said Machi.

Police confirmed the incident and were on scene.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said there were no injuries and investigations are continuing.
