CMA focuses on women

AS part of the long build-up to the 93rd Comrades Marathon, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has announced a renewed focus on getting female athletes “race ready” for June 10.

Bonitas Comrades Women’s Seminars, scheduled for February and early March, will see women-specific sessions specially devised to get female runners physically and mentally prepared for “the ultimate human race”.

The first will be held at Durban’s Elangeni Hotel on Saturday morning, and others will follow in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. A panel of experts will be on hand with tailor-made advice, information and motivation for female Comrades runners, according to the CMA.

“The sessions have been skilfully put together to ensure that our female athletes obtain the correct training information, nutritionally sound advice and get themselves race ready for the 93rd edition of the world’s greatest ultra-marathon,” said CMA. The entry fee is R150 and includes breakfast.
