KWA-ZULU NATAL premier candidate Zwakele Mncwango visited the Ugu district last Thursday to listen to the some of the challenges faced by community members in the area.

Mncwangu visited areas such as Umzinto, Mkholombe, Masinenge, and Marburg in attempts to ascertain where communities best need assistance.

He said they identified a few problem areas, such as the ongoing water issue and other service delivery issues, on their tour.

“We also met with the people from Umzumbe. They are in a situation whereby a municipal manager was abusing her power to issue government tenders to her partner and therefore the community has protested for the total shutdown of the municipality until the said municipal manager is removed from office,” said Mncwangu.

He said the DA would initiate an application for Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) to investigate the matter at Umzumbe, so as to do away with alleged corruption within the municipality.
