A 25-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for possession of dagga and whoonga after he was found with a shopping bag filled with the drugs.

The man was arrested during a clean-up operation by local police and security company Lazer 911.

Lazer 911 manager Basil Lanka said that all the abandoned houses in Albersville were searched and the man was allegedly found with the drugs in one of the houses and arrested immediately.

Port Shepstone SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Zandra Wiid said that the man was arrested with 0.104 kg dagga and two capsules of heroin in his possession.

“He has appeared in court and the case was remanded to July 27. The value of the drugs is about R230,” said Wiid.

In a separate incident a 19-year-old suspect was also arrested in Merlewood in possession of 15 mandrax pills on the same day.

He will appear at the Port Shepstone court soon.
