MEMORABLE Moments South Coast KZN does exactly what it’s name suggests - makes moments memorable for those who need assistance.

Lee Jackson started her cause in 2014 when she noticed that many young women did not have money to attend their matric farewell.

She then appealed to locals to donate dresses, shows, accessories and the like through her Facebook page, Memorable Moments South Coast.

“Every year without fail there is a need for matric farewell dance outfits. Some can afford to either have theirs made or even hire expensive outfits, but what about those who don’t have the means?” asked Jackson.

She said she noticed this reality after starting her business, Glory Designs, in 2007.

“Sadly the cost of living is just too high and many parents can’t afford to splash out on a dress and the other items needed for a matric farewell,” she said.

Jackson now has 70 dresses, shoes, accessories and a few suits which enables many young women and men to attend their farewell.

“Sometimes there are adjustments that need to be done. I charge a small fee for this so that dry cleaning costs are met,” said Jackson.

A refundable deposit of R300 is charged and then paid back on condition that the outfits, shoes and accessories are returned undamaged.

“I charge a R50 fee for the cleaning,” she said.

An extra charge is involved for shoes and accessories.

A manicure and make-up is also made possible through Cheryl Thain from Makeup Artistry by Cheryl and Lisa Prins from LM Beauty, who sponsor vouchers to add that extra special touch.

“It would be fantastic if I could get someone on board to do hair as well as transport and whatever else is needed to make that day special,” said Jackson.
