Desperate measures ...

2017-08-31 06:00

DESPERATE times call for desperate measures. Guaranteed, 99% of South Africans who have left SA permanently with their families (and lest we forget it is their right to choose to do so) are paying tax in their new home countries. And those who go out to work in Africa will be paying tax in those countries for sure, or their tax will be paid to SARS here if they are working for a SA company in Africa.

These who leave to work in Africa or Dubai or wherever, leave their families behind. Why do most of them choose to do this?

It is to keep bread on the table as there are few employment opportunities available at home.

How many people from Africa are working in SA legally and/or illegally and are paying taxes, let alone UIF and Workmen’s Compensation?

The government should reduce all top-brass government employees’ salaries and benefits, starting from the president down. Stop wasting money on luxuries. Our nurses, teachers, good SAPS, magistrates and judges should be paid more, and even then the government will find the money it is obviously looking for in desperate times.
