• People with type 1 diabetes don’t make insulin.

• People with type 2 diabetes make insulin, but they don’t effectively use the insulin they produce.

• There’s no cure for type 1 diabetes. You may be able to reverse type 2 diabetes with lifestyle changes.


Both types of diabetes, if not controlled, share many similar symptoms, including:

• frequent urination;

• feeling very thirsty and drinking a lot;

• feeling very hungry;

• feeling very fatigued;

• blurry vision; and

• cuts or sores that don’t heal properly
