PARAMEDICS from Kwazulu Private Ambulance were called to an accident on Tuesday near Margate just after 8pm.
“Paramedics arrived at the horrific scene on the Seaslopes road leading towards Margate,” said Kwazulu Private Ambulance spokesperson Belinda Catchpole.
The driver had stopped breathing and had no pulse.
An off-duty medic and firefighter started CPR and the man started breathing on his own again.
Kwazulu Private Ambulance paramedics took over from them, stabilised the patient and transported him to a nearby hospital.
He was later transferred in a critical condition to a hospital in Durban for further treatment.
The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated.
