EIGHT people were injured, five of whom seriously, in a crash on the R61 in Port Edward on Saturday at around 11pm.

It is believed to have been a side impact crash between two vehicles, debris from the vehicles were scattered all over the road.

Emergency services worked together to treat and transport the injured to various hospitals and clear the scene.

On Friday at 8.03am, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a pedestrian crash along Marine Drive near the Margate Hotel.

Reports from the scene indicate that an 11-year-old-boy, on holiday from Springs, was crossing the road when a vehicle collided with him.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the child lying on the ground with serious injuries. Paramedics stabilised the patient before he was transported to a nearby hospital under the care of an advanced life support paramedic.

Two people were injured in a crash on the Uvongo bridge at 8.30am on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the accident where five vehicles were involved.

The injured were treated and transported to hospital.

On Thursday at 2.11pm, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a side-impact collision on the Umzinto road in Park Rynie.

Netcare 911 paramedics, the provincial services and private services arrived at the scene and found the twisted frame of the bakkie on the verge at the side of the road with extensive damage to the passenger side.

After triaging the injured it was found that a 14-year-old-boy had died on impact, while the driver sustained serious injuries.
