Editor’s note

The South Coast Fever was proud to be the official media partner for the book launch of Beaten but not Broken by Vanessa Govender at Southcoast Mall this week. Vanessa Govender is a force to be reckoned with, and meeting her was an honour and privilege. Days later, I still feel haunted by her story.

Her message was so important to all women out there: You are raising leaders, so never believe that you are powerless. I have personally met women who are strong in every aspect of their lives, confident, professional women who are brilliant at what they do, yet for some reason when it comes to relationships with men, they become weak, self-doubting and completely lose themselves. Vanessa’s message resonates at a time like this, when women are speaking out more and more about abuse. Never forget your self worth, there are good, kind people out there, so never feel you have to settle for someone who breaks you.

I would also like to wish all our Hindu readers a Happy Diwali for next week.

Remember, remember the month of November... Guy Fawkes is also coming up soon, so pet lovers, do your best to keep them safe and let’s celebrate responsibly.

Happy reading
