IZINGOLWENI Primary School teachers bid an emotional farewell to their teachers Mrs Thandiwe Madade, Mrs Zandile Ntombela and Miss Nonhlakanipho Mkhize at a farewell function held last Thursday, at Stages Restaurant in Port Shepstone. Two of the teachers, Madade and Ntombela have retired, while Mkhize will be relocating to another school.Madade began her career at Izingolweni Primary in 1979. She has served the school as a Grade 1 educator for an unwavering 39 years. Ntombela was also one of the Grade 1 teachers. She joined the school in 1990 and has impacted the foundation phase of Izingolweni Primary pupils for 28 years. Mkhize has been with the school for five years.Bongiwe Mthethwa, principal of Izingolweni, said: “The educators’ contributions to our school have been profound. They were educators who were actively involved in all corners of schooling matters. Mrs Madade, Mrs Ntombela and Miss Mkhize went over and above the call of duty to provide for their pupils, school and the community at large. We will miss them dearly and we will definitely finish off from where they left off.”The farewell function was organised by Izingolweni Primary’s deputy principal, Mrs Sibongile Zama. There was also a variety of entertainment from songs and dancing to speeches.The function, filled with tears, smiles and goodbyes, also saw the attendance of Siphindile Kheswa, Circuit Manager of Masakhane Circuit and a representative of the Department of Education, who also presented a talk during the function.Teachers and the school governing body acknowledged the educators’ efforts and contributions and wished them well.
