Equal threats

2017-07-06 06:00

THIS opinion will probably get me corralled in the same “privileged mlungu” group as Helen Zille.

In my view, vehemently condemning racism while half-heartedly criticising corruption and tacitly allowing it to flourish in the public and private sectors and government, is not too different from driving off a cliff while looking in the rear-view mirror.

It is the poorest of the poor and not the multiracial privileged middle class who are most critically injured in the resulting wreck. Both racism and corruption are threatening the survival of our country and need to be treated equally.
