THREE teachers from St Martins De Porres School left for Poland on Monday as part of the school’s Twinning project.

Primary phase head of department Sister Nomfundiso Dlamini, Nelisiwe Gambushe and Kubashnee Perumal, who specialise in deaf education, will visit a Polish education centre for the deaf in Przemysl. The trio return on 29 October.

St Martins speech and language therapist, also part of the school’s media liaison committee, Kimeshree Moodley, said the purpose of the trip is to develop co-operation between teachers and pupils with special needs.

“The teachers will exchange cultural experiences and attend training workshops that will assist in the delivery of education to pupils with special needs,” said Moodley.

St Martins is also looking forward to its turn of hosting teachers from Poland when they visit South Africa.
