THE Fairview community embarked on a clean-up project in their area last Saturday, November 10.

The clean-up was initiated by DA ward councillor Noah Cele, and focused on the commercial area of Fairview, which is also the entry point into the community.

“This area is like the face of our community so it is important that it is kept clean to present a good image to potential tourists as well. This clean-up was also important in educating our community about the importance of not littering and keeping our environment clean and safe,” said Cele.

He expressed his thanks for the support of members of the community, Nonto Mqadi and his team, Vicky Notch and her team for support and refreshments, and Sifiso Khumalo, the manager of depot one under the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, for refuse bags and gloves.

“This is not just a once-off event but an ongoing process when the need occurs. The target group is our youngsters, so as to instil the culture of keeping our places clean and taking responsibility,” ended Cele.
