THE Port Shepstone Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is asking for public assistance in finding a man involved in a rape that took place in February.

Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said the man allegedly jumped in a 43-year old female’s car while she was driving between Shelly Beach and St Michael’s in the early hours of the morning.

She had stopped at a traffic light when the man jumped in and instructed her to carry on driving. He then told her to stop near a bush in St Michael’s beach.

“The victim said the man made her drive into the bush where he raped her and fled. The victim then drove to a safe area where she contacted her family for assistance,” said Mfeka.

He said Port Shepstone FCS has an identikit of the suspect and urge the public to assist in the investigation.

The man is described as being dark in complexion, approximately 35 years of age and athletically built. If anyone sees the suspect they must contact the investigating officer, Constable Nurse Magubane on 039 688 7900 or 082 334 9682. - Supplied,
