SOUTH Coast Fever and Media24 have partnered with the Anti-Racism Network of South Africa (ARNSA) for the first annual anti-racism week.

Fever joined with more than 90 organisations, including civil society groups and government institutions, to take part in the week from 14 to 21 March .

“Recent incidents of racism in our country were not only shocking, but showed we have a long way to go,” said Media24 chief executive Esmaré Weideman.

“It’s time for ordinary South Africans to tackle racism wherever it rears its head.

“Instead of turning a blind eye, we have to say, ‘Not in my name, not in my workplace, not around my braai’.”

“As a country we have so much to lose if the dream of a non-racist, peaceful society goes down the drain.

“That’s why we joined this initiative, and that’s why Media24 urges all South Africans to get involved.”

ARNSA is the largest anti-racism campaign launched by a civil society in South Africa, and aims to play an important role in fostering dialogue and reconciliation.

You will be able to follow the campaign on News24, YOU, Huisgenoot, Drum, Die Burger, Beeld, The Witness, Volksblad, City Press, Daily Sun, Rapport, Son, Media24 local newspapers, Netwerk24 and all Media24 sites.
