Fishing prowess highlighted at Paddock competition

2017-03-16 06:02

BOET Stewart was the (fisher)man at the Paddock Fishing Competition on Saturday, reeling in a 2,79 kg bass at Dave Jenkin’s dam which was the biggest bass caught at the annual competition.

People came in numbers to enjoy the annual family event.

Deon Voigts had the best prepared dam, producing 161,465 kg of fish.

Hartwieg du Rand caught the biggest tilapia at 2,12 kg and Yergan Gounden caught the biggest eel at 1,38 kg.

The fishermen weighed in a total of 618,639 kg of fish — almost 200 kg more than the previous year.

An estimated R200 000 was given away in prizes, not only to winners, but to spectators too.

The event organisers thank participants and the public for their support, the sponsors who give great prizes every year, all who worked tirelessly to make the event a success and the dam owners who took time to prepare their dam for the weekend.
