YOUTH Development organisation, PhumlaniM Foundation (PMF) visited “residents” of Sunrise Rehab Centre (SRC) over the weekend. The rehabilitation is a joint community organisation led by Gamalakhe pastors.

The visit was organised by Gamalakhe Assemblies of God (GaG) to surprise “residents” with a Christmas gift.

Foundation founder, Phumlani Mzobe said they decided to bring Christmas early by donating clothing, providing lunch and spending time with them.

“The purpose was to listen to the experiences faced by those who travelled the path of temptation, be a constant voice of reason and encourage and support the inhabitants,” said Mzobe

He said the recovering drug addicts shared survival stories and motivated their peers to do the right thing.

SRC founder Winnie Mbili said the lives of the youth have been changed at the centre.

“With the assistance of the GaG, we reached out to these warriors with the word of God and extreme dedication,” said Mbili.

In attendance was the centre management team, Sbongile Cele (skills and development trainer), Lulama Somtyele and Mrs Mabhida.

Management blessed the visit and quoted a Bible verse:
“Arise and shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” - Isaiah 6 verse 1.

Nonsindiso Khuzwayo, the regional co-originator of PMF assured the future young leaders that PMF is their home of support, and they are welcome to join the family.

“Any step back is a delay in your life’s progress,” said Khuzwayo.

“Doing things yourself is always better than doing for others, because you might get discouraged because people are never satisfied,” she said.

She said PMF aims to create a platform for youths to share experiences “before it is too late”.
