ON Tuesday at around 3pm, emergency services responded to an accident involving three vehicles on the R102 between Port Shepstone Regional Hospital and Confusion Junction. According to an eyewitness, a Citi Golf with five occupants that was travelling in a southerly direction side-swiped an oncoming red sedan and then rolled, colliding with a grey sedan that was travelling in the opposite direction.

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said four of the five male occupants in the Golf died and the driver of the grey sedan sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.

“The fifth occupant of the white sedan was taken to hospital in a critical condition,” said Wiid. A culpable homicide docket will be investigated.
