Great views at MTB Series event

2018-07-12 06:01

THE South Coast Fever MTB & Trail Run Series 2018 Race 1, The Sardine MTB Race and Trail Run 2018 starts on Sunday, July 8 with registrations opening from 5.30 am.

This spectacular race has different aspects to it that will only be seen on this track. We have trail options for the whole family available on this amazing route.

The track will lead you through magnificent farmed strelitzias, fabulous macadamia farms, our very own coffee farm, our well-known South Coast banana farms and a very special treat — the world’s smallest desert.

The race will start at sea level and end at sea level. Most of the climbing will be in the first part of the race.

The starting point will be at Port Edward Holiday Resort on Port Edward Beach, where you can grab some coffee and experience a magnificent sunrise before you register/start your race.

From there you will be riding through macadamia farms and banana farms. You will then reach the breathtaking coffee farm where you can smell the fresh roasting coffee beans from the Beavers Creek farm estate.

Thereafter you will ride on the world famous Clearwater Trail with its spectacular single tracks and view deck overseeing the stunning Umtamvuna George with the 50-year-old wild coast bridge. Finally you will reach the world’s smallest desert.

The red desert is the smallest in the world, being only 200 metres across. There are grasslands, forests and wetlands surrounding this marvellous wonder.

After the red desert, it is the home stretch leading you pass the dam on the single track. Reaching Port Edward Holiday Resort will conclude the 45 km race of the event.

There are two river crossings where you will have to get off and get your feet wet to cross at least once. We also have some road crossings so please listen to the police and marshals at all times.

The 45/25-km track leads through the set of the movie The Jungle Book.

Finish your race with a hot shower and a visit to the food court. There you can refuel on a juicy Tiago’s Jumbo chicken burger, beef burger at Spur or any of our other delicious foods available. Beaver Creek will be there with hot steamy coffee for the early runners and cyclists, registering and taking in the amazing views of a South Coast sunrise. We will have a Big Kids Zone with lots of inflatables, games and entertainment.

They will also be selling popcorn, candy floss and slush puppies to keep kids occupied during the event. Food stalls be open throughout the day.

Come and join us for a fun and exciting run and ride. It will be a great day to spend outdoors for the whole family.
