SALUTATIONS essentials and flavoured oils. Hello from the other side, yes dear readers rumour has it that the grim reaper wants me to write another lengthy obituary for deceased rock stars.

Regrettably I will not. However, my profound sympathies are noted that Glen Frey (6 November, 1948–18 January) has sadly also checked into his own hotel California where he can never leave.

In 1971 Frey was one of the founding members of the band the Eagles where he played guitar, keyboards and piano with the band and was also one of their principal second singers. The band has had notable success ever since, including being inaugurated into the Rock and Roll hall of fame and six number one album listings.

We all know that each day can be psychologically arduous.

Frankly, sanity is boring and the only normal people are the ones we don’t really know well, for we are all modestly insane. We all talk to ourselves, when the genuinely bonkers just converse somewhat longer. Until I acknowledged self-absolution and sought transformation, I genuinely was unaware how de-consolidated I actually was. My madness was certainly somewhere in between pandemonium and dreaming.

I realised that taking flight would not help me when the problem was in my head, I sought the dormant seeds within and began once again to grow them into magnificent meaningful things, I could no longer continue to allow the damage to control my life, and had to do the bravest of things by owning my life again and learn to show my love again a little louder each day.

Yes, at some time, we all suffer from anxiety or better put, the lightheadedness of independence, with the probability of plummeting into nothingness

Anxiety must not be confused with fear, as fear is a natural response to a real or perceived immediate threat.

We as humans require social acceptance and genuinely dread the disapproval of others. We tend not to fear the crowd, but rather fear their perception of us.

In today’s world with much more competition we have far less time to consider the right options or seek out additional advice, leading to uncertainty and unpredictability that easily trigger mostly negative emotional responses.

So how do we combat all of this, how do we get from WTF moments to contentment, after all we deserve it we know it’s good for us,

The reality is that you don’t need to go to a retreat for a spa weekend when a few dedicated minutes each day will certainly bring success.

Please note - chilling in front of the TV certainly will not really reduce any stress, in order to effectively combat stress you need to activate the body’s natural relaxation response

Try simple meditation by focusing on positive aspects while allowing any negativities float by. During this time deeply breathe in the good air with positive thoughts through your nose whilst exhaling the bad air with negativities through your mouth.

If you are outside doing rhythmic exercise that utilises both your arms and legs it is most effective when performed mindfully. Notice the colours and textures around you. Explore your senses, if on the beach truly acknowledge the power of the ocean, listen to the sounds of nature, appreciate the bouquet of the greenery around you, feel the calming water on your skin, savour the fresh clean air.

Feel the wind on your face, if eating or drinking enjoy each taste and texture. More importantly out yourself socially, it affords you a fresh alternate perspective on everything and paves the way for successful solutions.

After our recent busy season last Saturday I decided that I would go to a spa in Port Edward for a two-hour foot and leg massage. Believe me it was worth every last cent and I emerged refreshed with juvenile vitality.

Massage therapy has been around for at least 5000 years and what began as a sacred system for natural healing has evolved into the relaxing and therapeutic practices we experience today.

Ayurvedic principles and texts were written between 1500 and 500 BCE and based on these texts it was widely adopted throughout India and south-east Asia. The bases of this principal is that individuals incur illness and diseases when they live out of harmony with their environment, to treat individuals must restore their natural mental and physical balance by re-establishing harmony between themselves and the world around them.

Reflexology is credited to the ancient Egyptians who in 2500 BCE used the practice of applying pressure to specific points known as reflex points on the hands and feet.

In China these texts also go back to around 2700 BCE and were developed by doctors as well as martial artists. They also believed that illness and diseases arose due to imbalances in the energy meridians within the body that represent physiological systems, and that through massage the energy will flow more harmoniously throughout the body affording it to heal naturally.

In BC 460 Hippocrates wrote the physician must be experienced in many things, but assuredly in rubbing.

He also promoted a combination of massage, proper diet, exercise, rest, fresh air and music to restore the body to a healthy state.

Our feet do the most work yet are the least pampered part of our bodies.

So go on, treat yourself to a massage it has endless benefits and with the growth of massage therapists increasing by 20% per annum the practice of massage is certainly gaining momentum.
