AFTER visiting Nigeria, Hibiscus Coast municipality mayor Cllr Nomusa Mqwebu and municipal manager Max Mbili announced that the municipality will be hosting a cultural connection event that will educate and develop entertainment and tourism industries.

Mbili said experts in the film, music and other entertainment industries will be visiting Hibiscus Coast for the event.

Mbili said the visit to Nigeria was interesting as they visited studios where most Nigerian movies on Africa Magic are made. Mbili said the visit was to learn and see how the film industry can be developed.

“In Nigeria funding is available to assist emerging filmmakers in our country. We engaged in talks with the South African Embassy in Nigeria on how our local filmmakers can get access to this funding,” said Mbili.

“As the host country for the upcoming cultural connection, we will meet with our filmmakers, musicians and artists to prepare for the event.”

Mqwebu said she was pleased with how the Nigerians accommodated them and said it was interesting to learn that some of the shots for Africa Magic movies are taken by cellphone and not by expensive recording devices.

“We are really looking forward to receiving the people of Nigeria in our country,” said Mqwebu.
