HIBBERDENE SAPS, together with UGU Cluster Communication Marketing and Liaison and Hibberdene CPF, embarked on an awareness drive on Thursday, December 6 to sensitise the public about the campaign. Demonstrators walked from the Hibberdene police station to the shopping centre, chanting slogans and holding up posters about the fight police have to face against this scourge. Pamphlets were distributed at the Hibberdene Mall, taxi rank, and to the vendors in the streets. Several other campaigns were held throughout the UGU Cluster in support of the national campaign, which ended on December 10. Despite the conclusion of the campaign, many stakeholders and activists have reminded the public that gender violence is an ongoing challenge, not to be forgotten once the campaign is over.
