ANOTHER month of happy Saturday afternoon training and another successful show. A reminder to all South Coast handlers that we have a show this Sunday at the Port Shepstone Borough Field. We will also be setting up tunnel mania to raise funds for the team going to the Czech Republic in October.

This Agility World Championship is close to our hearts as we have Ninette Smith and her little poodle Swish participating in both the team and the individual event. The South Coast needs to support our local sportspeople.

We now have a dedicated flyball trainer for anyone wanting to participate in this discipline.

Desiree Grutter sets up the apparatus for the 2pm to 2.45pm time slot and is starting with the basic exercises required for this exciting “game”. The only requirement is a dog that loves its ball so come down to the club and give your dog and yourself some exercise.

Hibiscus Kennel Club will have a table at the SPCA Flea Market in the parking area this weekend. Club members will be in attendance to answer your questions. We will be selling collars, leads and toys and will be able to advise you as to what is suitable for your dog.

Congratulations to Tracy Norton and her dogs Badger and Georgina on their excellent Obedience results at the show in Durban this weekend. Competition Obedience takes an enormous amount of patience from the handler and the dog.

There needs to be a very special bond between the two and Tracy certainly has an abundance of that.

We welcome all new members to the club this month and invite those who have fallen by the wayside to return as we miss you and your dogs.

Your annual fee of R250 per annum allows you obedience flyball carting and agility training as well as weekday agility and obedience practise.

No weekly or monthly payments. For more information, contact chairperson Sharon on 073 601 4622 or the training co-ordinator on 083 250 4253. - Supplied.
