HIBISCUS Kennel Club committee and trainers are thankful that the Port Shepstone Borough field has been rehabilitated after the field and the clubhouse were flooded, and that training is back to normal.
Members are reminded that training now commences at 2pm. Thank you to everyone who arrived with brooms, rags and high-pressure hoses to clean the clubhouse, and to our local recycling company for uplifting hundreds of bottles washed down by the river.
We were in the process of repainting the clubhouse so we are all spick and span once more apart from the persons who removed the aluminum gutters and in the process damaged the roof - this at 1pm on a Monday afternoon. We thank our vigilant neighbour, who was proactive in alerting the SAPS and so preventing further damage to the property.

We had a busy weekend of 13 and 14 August as we held a fund-raiser for Ninette Smith on Saturday, which was great fun with Agility Tunnel Mania and 36 weaving poles as well as a Rally O course followed by an Open Show on the Sunday.
Well done to our judges Nicki Calvert and Heather Moorcroft for the excellent courses. We thank everyone who attended and made the weekend such a successful one.
Monday was “wash-up” day for humans and dogs as the ground is still wet and muddy in patches, which will take some time to dry.

Show results:

Billy Engelbrecht and Gunner: 1st and two 2nd places.

Ninette Smith and Swish: three 1sts and Sparkle 1st 2nd 3rd.

Sharon Derman and Charlie: 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Gaby Frey and Scooby: two 2nds and KT two 2nds and Cassie a 2nd.

Beryl Verwoerdt and Spice: 3rd and Poet a 2nd.

Linda Liversey and Dexi: 2nd and Shadoe 1st.

The raffle was drawn after the show and the winner was Corinne Bestel from Durban. We thank Niki Calvert from Happy Hounds for donating a dog bed and we thank Tailsup for their generous donation of treats for the fun day.
As always, thank you to Montego for their ongoing sponsorship. Club members attended a championship show last weekend and the results are as follows:

Ninette Smith and Glitz, a 3rd place and both Oz and Sparkle won their dog jumping rounds with Qualifying Certificates.
Members are reminded that their results need to be in by Sunday evening after a show if they wish to have them published.
