October 18 marks an auspicious day for the Hindu community as devotees come together to observe Saraswathi pooja. Goddess Saraswathi is worshipped by devotees in their quest for wisdom and knowledge, also by those who are driven by their passion for any type of art, especially music. In South Africa, Saraswathi pooja is the celebration of music and knowledge. It is celebrated by a gathering of individuals in worship of the goddess by singing, dancing, and offering prayers to show gratitude for the divine Mother’s constant blessings.

The Port Shepstone Tamil Association extends an invitation to the public for their annual Saraswathi pooja on October 18 at the Sivan Temple in Albersville. The prayer will begin at 6.30 pm and supper will be served. For further enquiries contact 071 483 5568.
