IT was a busy week at Khanya Hospice as CEO Neil McDonald was invited by the South African Association of Retired Persons Social Services Alexandra Club, which meets once a month at the Umdoni Retirement Village in Pennington, to speak about the work Hospice does.
He gave the same talk when he was invited by the Park Rynie Senior Citizens Association a few days later.

“People were absolutely astounded and did not realise what actually happens in the day-to-day life of the Hospice nursing staff,” said McDonald.

McDonald was pleasantly surprised at the Park Rynie meeting as the senior citizens had collected and donated R1 820 to Hospice.

“Khanya Hospice is not government funded and we have to do all the fund-raising ourselves.”
Hospice offers free palliative nursing care to people with life-threatening diseases and offers support to their families.
