Hospital staff in sanitary-towel drive

2016-08-25 06:00

IN keeping up with the Women’s Month theme, the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital management and staff will visit Sozabe High in KwaMadlala to distribute sanitary towels to female pupils next Wednesday.

Hospital spokesperson Phumza Morai said this will be done to promote their well-being as well as making sure they do not have to be absent from school during “that time of the month”.

“This is a problem that has been identified in most rural schools, causing girls to miss school several days a year,” said Morai.

Hospital staff donated more than 400 sanitary packets. The drive will be coupled with educational talks about life skills, reporting of sexual abuse and general personal hygiene.

Umzumbe South Clinic supervisors will also be part of the visit, which will start at 10am. - Supplied.
