TWO men were sentenced to several years behind bars at Port Shepstone Regional Court recently after being found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances and othe charges.

Initially three men - Bheki Duma, Siyabonga Sifiso Mazubane and Sthembhele Michael Mkhize - were arrested after the robbery, but Duma was acquitted on all charges.

Mazubane was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances and Mkhize was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the same charge.

Mkhize received a further two years for receiving stolen property and three years for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The case dates back to July 2013 when the three men barged in on a domestic worker and a child left in her care in Sea Park.

The men pointed a firearm at both the little boy and the domestic worker and then tied the victims with electric cords while they ransacked the house and fled with stolen property.

A short while later, members from K9 unit in Port Shepstone arrested the suspects not far from the scene. One of the suspects fired shots at the police and he was shot in his leg by a police member, and arrested.

Detective Warrant Officer Mack John processed the case docket.
