LOVE yourself and indulge wisely when dining out. Eating out does not necessarily mean you need to load up on unwanted calories and be filled with remorse the next day.

You can be social and enjoy good dining, just take a few minutes to plan before you order.

Here are five tips when eating out:

• Avoid deep-fried food

Chips may seem like a good idea at the time, but reconsider and get a side order of salad or veggie instead. This will make for a happier tummy and a balanced you in the morning.

• Avoid white rice, potatoes and pasta

Most restaurants have these as standard options on their menus. Just cancel them out as options and whatever you do, stay away from breaded entrees. Salads and vegetables are the better and healthier alternative.

• Select a meal with lots of vegetables

Scan the menu and choose your favourite ones, then choose the one with the most vegetable options.

• Avoid creamy dressings

The calories per serving are scary, the better alternative to creamy is balsamic or vinegar-based dressings.

• Take home what you can’t eat

Just because you paid for it does not mean you need to burst at the seams.

Be kind to yourself and love your body enough to know when to stop eating.

Your leftovers can usually be taken home with you or perhaps you have a hungry crowd at your table and someone is happy to be the vacuum. No waste required.
