SOUTH Coast karate enthusiast and local Shihan, Frank Moodley, rubbed shoulders with an icon in the field at Port Shepstone Secondary School recently.

World renowned Japanese karate grandmaster, Master Manabu Murukami held training sessions at the school on April 22, leaving locals with an unforgettable experience to grow them in their karate careers.

The training sessions were organised by Moodley and was attended by various South African masters including the president of Karate South Africa, Hanshi Pillay.

Moodley said that hosting
Murukami was a great honour and he too was impressed by the local karatekas.

“Master Murukami has been to the South Coast before and he was so impressed by the standard of karate in the region.

“Most of us learned a lot from him and his visit inspired many of our young karatekas,” said
Moodley.
