Life behind bars for rapists

2015-11-12 06:00

TWO men were recently sentenced in the Port Shepstone Regional Court for the rape and robbery of a 25-year-old Munster woman.

Mchwanah Thulebone Mpisane (27) and Mbhulbey Mthuli (26) were sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment each for robbery and received a life sentence each for rape.

The victim was on her way to work on the morning of Monday, 19 January when she was accosted by the men and forced into the bushes along the R61 national road in Munster.

They threatened her with a knife and wheel spanner.

“She was raped and robbed of her belongings including two cellphones and cash,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Three days later the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Jabulani Nzimakwe, acted on information and arrested both suspects and recovered the stolen items. They were arrested and charged. - Supplied
