Lifesavers need proper equipment

2017-08-03 06:02

ON Friday July 21 at Banana Beach in front of Ilanga Caravan Park, we watched as a small child was washed out to sea.

The lifesavers battled to get her out as the sea was very rough, but eventually managed to save her.

On questioning the lifesavers, we discovered that they do not have flippers which would have helped them with the recovery. The answer was that there was no money to buy flippers.

What good is it having lifesavers if they do not have the necessary equipment to save lives? As things stand, they are risking their lives as well.
