CLEANERS were hard at work at St Michaels beach on Monday, clearing heaps of rubbish left behind by revellers who had come from all over the country for a weekend of music on the South Coast.

A St Michaels resident who asked to remain anonymous said he is concerned by the lack of respect and abuse of public facilities.

“Many concerns have been raised by residents over the abuse of this area which is a regular occurrence over the weekdays, weekends and public holidays,” he said.

He said public drinking, littering, urinating and loud music were some of the things residents have to put up with.

“The municipal cleaning crew are battling to keep up with the workload trying to keep this area in a neat and tide state, only to be trashed the next day or weekend,” he said.
