THE Saiki Dojo in Ramsgate performed really well in the SA JKA National Championship event, held in Johannesburg over the weekend of May 25 and May 26.

The Saiki Dojo instructer, Sensei Monya Palmer, achieved her third Dan (Sandan) at the event with her students performing admirably as well.

Janelle Catchpole (6) got bronze for kata and silver for kumite, Jayden Forster got bronze for kumite, and Jacob Catchpole got bronze for kata and bronze for kumite.

These students have been selected as part of the SA JKA Team.

Micaela Palmer won gold for kata and silver for kumite and was also selected to be a part of the SA JKA Team to represent South Africa in the Africa Cup on September 1, 2018.

“The students performed like champions. Saiki Dojo is a force to be reckoned with.

“We would like to thank our community and parents for all the help and support. We truly appreciate it,” said Sensei Palmer.

Classes at the dojo are held every Monday and Wednesday.

The four to six year old classes are from 5 pm to 5.30 pm, seven year olds and up are from 5.30 pm to 6.15 pm and the senior classes run from 6.15 pm to 7.15 pm.
