A SOUTH Coast model brought the Summer Heat Talent Search title home after competing in the national finals in Pretoria.

Niksha Sevnaram (24), from Park Rynie said she dreamt about being a model since six years old and joined modelling agency Extreme Model Management at age 12.

The primary school teacher said thanks to her bold and bubbly character she has never been shy to enter the modelling competitions that came her way.

“I love putting myself out there and trying new things to better myself. Modelling helps to build my self esteem, gain confidence and appreciate my unique figure.”

While she has had many small success in her pursuits she says walking away with a national title is the biggest and evidently the most challenging one yet.

“I first auditioned for the Summer Heat Talent Search in Durban for the provincial runs. There I auditioned for acting and modelling but qualified for the nationals in modelling only. My journey was challenging because in the beginning I found difficult to correct postures and poses, however, it all paid off in the end.

“I believe that success is not all about winning, rather it’s about pushing yourself and taking all the criticism in as a means to improve your talents and abilities.”

She says her biggest supporter has been her family. “I was raised in a small, humble family consisting of my mother, father and brother. My dad died in 2012, I had just started my studies towards becoming a teacher at the time and although it was hard I continued to follow everything he taught me.

“My dad was my role model. He taught me how to be goal-driven and hard working and throughout my career my family have always supported and encouraged me. I’m very grateful for that,” said Sevnaram.

Sevnaram holds an honours degree in education and says apart from modelling her other passions include acting and gym.

“Whatever you choose to do in life, do it with passion, and if you fail, learn from your mistakes and keep persevering. I believe it is not over until God says it is over,” said Sevnaram.
