MEMBERS of the Cluster Operational Command Centre were addressed by the cluster commander, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele, at an informal function held last Friday.Nxamagele conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to the members for their dedication and hard work, which have resulted in 200 arrests since November 2017, when the unit was established.Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Zandra Wiid said the major general also thanked them for availing themselves at all hours to protect and serve, and sometimes having to sacrifice valuable time away from their families. “The arrests include crimes such as murder, house robbery, house breaking, possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed fire arms and ammunition and attempted murder. The team of about 40 members comprises police officers from different units and stations in the Ugu cluster. They mainly work within the Ugu cluster, but sometimes information received will take them out of the boundaries to go and effect arrests. The team operates under the command of Captain Gert Bosman,” said Wiid.
