A MAN drowned near Kelso Beach on Sunday.

According to Netcare 911 at about 1.30 pm, two men were swept out into deep waters by the backwash.

One of the men was submerged under water for a long period of time before being found by rescuers, while the other was rescued by lifeguards.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said one of the men was already deceased when he was found by rescuers.

“The man that was submerged had no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene.

“The second patient was assessed by an Advanced Life Support Paramedic but declined ambulance transportation to hospital,” said Herbst. — Supplied.
