A 29-YEAR-OLD man appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for dealing in drugs after he was allegedly found trying to sneak in drugs for a prisoner at Port Shepstone Correctional Services holding cells on Monday.

“The man came to Port Shepstone police station to drop off food to be given to a detainee in the police cells,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

She said the shift commander then examined the container of yoghurt and a loaf of bread and discovered 10 mandrax tablets and 26 heroin capsules hidden inside the food.

The man was released on R1000 bail and will appear again on 1 March.
