A 24-YEAR-OLD man appeared in Ramsgate Court on Friday for several cases of rape, which occurred in 2016 and this month.

Police arrested the man on Wednesday night in Masinenge informal settlement near Margate.

The first rape took place on 6 December, 2016 in Manaba where a 68-year-old woman was raped.

The woman went outside to investigate why the dogs were barking when an unknown man confronted her.

He forced her to the bedroom where he raped her.

He then tied her up and fled with some of her property.

On 16 January, Margate police received a complaint of house robbery and rape at Manaba.

They proceeded to the crime scene and on arrival found the main door of the house open.

Three victims, aged between 23 and 25, were in the house. One of them was assaulted and two were raped by an unknown man.

He used a screwdriver and a knife to threaten the victims and then fled with their property.

After investigation, detectives Sergeant Senzo Mlambo, Sergeant Mduduzi Mpofana, Sergeant Michelle van Niekerk, Sergeant Thandeyakhe Gumede, Constable Sandile Xolo, Constable Ndumiso Nzimakwe and Constable Nkanyiso Lushaba, arrested the accused.
