2018-06-07 06:00

A 28-YEAR-OLD man drowned at the Mthwalume main beach on Monday.

According to the KZN Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services (KZN EMS) spokesperson Robert Mckenzie, when paramedics arrived on scene the man had already died.

“The man had been rescued from the water by bystanders. Following an examination by paramedics, it was found that the man had already died,” said Mckenzie.

Police were on the scene and Port Shepstone police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Zandra Wiid said investigations into the drowning are under way.

“It is alleged that the man went swimming with friends at Mthwalume where he got into difficulty. His friends allegedly took him out and to the clinic but he was declared dead on arrival,” said Wiid.

An inquest will be investigated by Hibberdene SAPS.
