Man sentenced for GBH

SBONGISENI Robert Mpofana (32) appeared in the Ramsgate Regional Court recently where he was convicted for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, murder and intimidation and sentenced to three years, 15 years and six months, respectively.

The case was investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Sibusiso Mthethwa of the Gamalakhe SAPS Detective Service.

The victim, Phatho Ndaba (43), was walking with a woman in Quinabout Ward, Gamalakhe near the school when Mpofana attacked him with a knife.

He sustained four stab wounds in the chest and one in the abdomen. Mpofana fled the scene, but was tracked down by police, and arrested.

Major General Sethenya Agnes Nxamagele, the Ugu Cluster Commander, extended her thanks and appreciation to the Gamalakhe SAPS station commander, Captain Mpinge for working with his members and giving them guidance.

She also commended Warrant Officer Mthethwa for the excellent investigation that resulted in the successful conviction and sentencing. - Supplied.
