THE new owner of the Pumphouse Family Restaurant & Bar, Craig Zaayman, has announced that the building is now 120 years old, with most of its original structure still remaining.

He explained that the name came about because the structure was indeed the only pumphouse that pumped water to the surrounding Margate area all those years ago.

Zaayman loves the history of the place and is registering the building as a Heritage Site.

The Pumphouse recently held a relaunch evening featuring wine tasting by Silk Bush Mountain Vineyards and Tanqueray Gin & Pink Tonic, as well as five-minute massage stations by World of Asia Spas.

But the big feature of the evening was taste platters of food from the new menu, which was also launched on the night.
