THE Ugu District Municipality budget speech was delivered at a sitting of the Ugu council at the Hibiscus Coast Municipality Council Chambers on Thursday 26 May.

Ugu mayor Cllr Ntomfikile Gumede said she can proudly say that the Ugu District Municipality is in a better position that it was in previous years, reminding people they have moved forward with regard to delivery services to the community.

“Finances are in a better shape and we have worked hard to improve the quality of infrastructure and our services,” she said.

The mayor indicated that tariff increases should be expected as the suppliers of water and electricity have increased their charges.

“Our supplier Eskom has increased its tariff by five percent and Umgeni Water by nine percent.”
