AS part of promoting a variety of tourism packages in the district, Ugu South Coast Tourism hosted the media to an eye-opening agri-tourism excursion on Friday.

The tour included visits to Beaver Creek Coffee Estate in Port Edward and the Outlook Trading Post in Southbroom.

Ugu South Coast Tourism CEO Justin Mackrory said visitors to the South Coast want to see something new and look for unique outings that will interest them and their families.

At Beaver Creek, visitors were given a tour of the coffee plantation. They also learnt how coffee is harvested and the stages it goes through until it reaches the cup.

The banana tour at the Outlook Trading Post was packed with interesting facts about the history of the farm as well as how the crop is planted, harvested and packaged.

“We only sampled two types of agriculture.

“If we factor in sugar cane, macadamia nut and timber production it becomes apparent that our destination can provide visitors with brilliant examples of pleasant things to do on our farms,” said Mackrory.
