Men arrested for firearm charges

FOUR male suspects were arrested in two separate incidents for possession of firearms without a licence.

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said on Sunday at 1am, officers from the Port Shepstone K9 Unit were on patrol in Woodgrange in Hibberdene when they saw three suspicious males walking on the R102. “They stopped and searched them and two 9mm Beretta pistols, one magazine and 29 live rounds were found in their possession. They were arrested and charged for possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition.”

The men aged 28, 30 and 34 appeared in the Hibberdene Court on Monday and the case was remanded for seven days for bail application. On the same day at 2pm, officers from the Ulundi Public Order Policing, who were are on detached duties, searched a male suspect (18) at Louisiana and he was found in possession of eight live rounds of ammunition. “He could not produce a licence and was charged accordingly. He appeared in Port Shepstone Court and was remanded for seven days for bail application,” said
